Everything you need to know

  • Yes! American Legion halls have always welcomed the community for private events. You do not need to be a veteran or Legion member to rent a hall. The revenue from your event directly funds veteran programs and keeps the post operating so your celebration genuinely helps a good cause.

  • Most posts include tables and chairs, restrooms, parking, and basic setup time at no extra charge. Many also offer kitchen access, bar service, a stage or AV equipment, and a dance floor. Every listing specifies exactly what's included, so there are no surprises at checkout.

  • Food policies vary by post. Most allow outside catering. Alcohol policies depend on the post's liquor license. Some posts are bring-your-own (BYO), others require you to purchase through their bar. Each listing clearly states the alcohol policy before you book, and our search filters let you find BYO-friendly halls.

  • A refundable security deposit ($100–$400 depending on hall size) is held at booking via Stripe — it's authorized but not charged. After your event, you submit timestamped post-event photos through your renter account. If the hall is left clean and undamaged, the deposit is released within 48 hours and you're never actually charged.

  • Cancellations 30+ days before your event receive a full refund of the hall fee minus the platform fee.

    15–29 days: 50% refund. 7–14 days: 25% refund.

    Less than 7 days: no refund.

    One free reschedule is allowed with 14+ days notice, subject to availability.

  • The post sets their own pricing and receives 100% of their asking rate. 80% of your hall rental fee goes directly to the American Legion post. Freedom Halls retains a 20% platform fee from the renter side to cover booking management, photography, renter support, and payment processing.
